Arknights: Endfield Beginner Guide: AIC, Combat, and Early Progression

Build a clean early-game plan for Arknights: Endfield: prioritize the main mission, develop one team, and make the AIC factory serve progression instead of becoming a distraction.

The fastest way to make a stable start in Arknights: Endfield is to keep three systems moving together: advance the main mission, invest in one functional operator team, and build only the AIC production lines that solve your next material bottleneck. If one of those races ahead of the others, progress becomes more expensive and less clear.

This guide is deliberately roster-agnostic. Banners and balance change; the underlying decision process does not.

TL;DR
  • Follow the main mission until a system or region you need is unlocked.
  • Build one coherent four-operator team before spreading materials across alternatives.
  • Use Basic Training and Operator Guide stages before judging a new operator.
  • Treat the AIC as a production tool: identify an output, trace its chain, then build backward.
  • Keep transport, power and storage legible; save proven layouts as blueprints.
  • Use the in-game Progression Overview and SKPORT Progression Calculator when planning upgrades.

Your early-game priority order

Use this loop whenever the game presents several objectives at once:

  1. Main mission: it opens regions, systems and better sources of materials.
  2. Operator readiness: level and equip the team you actually field.
  3. Factory bottleneck: automate the component currently blocking that team or the next mission.
  4. Exploration: collect nearby crates, activate convenient travel points and repair useful shared infrastructure.
  5. Optional challenges: attempt them when they match your current power, not simply because they appeared.

The official-release adjustments lowered some early Authority requirements, streamlined early Valley IV missions and increased crate rewards. That makes forward momentum more valuable than exhaustive map clearing at the start.

Build one team around a repeatable combat plan

Endfield combat rewards coordinated skills rather than four individually impressive characters. Start by reading each operator’s tags, skills and combo conditions. Then give every slot a job.

Slot What it should contribute Question to ask
Driver Reliable field time and basic attacks Can this operator safely maintain pressure?
Enabler A debuff, status or setup What condition does the team need?
Payoff Strong combo or burst Who converts the setup into damage?
Stability Healing, protection, control or flexible utility What prevents failed attempts?

This is a framework, not a mandatory class composition. An operator can cover two jobs. What matters is that skills connect and the team survives long enough to execute its loop.

Learn the defensive rhythm first

Enemy warning cues matter more than squeezing in one extra basic attack. Practice dodging late enough to avoid the hit without abandoning position too early. The official Beta Test II notes describe Perfect Dodge as restoring some stamina and Skill Points; official-release notes also confirm that most skills and combo skills no longer break the basic-attack sequence. Together, those systems reward a calm rhythm: attack, read the cue, defend, then spend the opening.

Run Basic Training and an operator’s tutorial stage when available. These are safer places to understand range, targeting, combo triggers and animation commitment than a resource-gated challenge.

Spend progression materials narrowly

Before upgrading, answer three questions:

  • Is this operator in the team used for current story and farming?
  • Does the upgrade solve a real failure—survivability, damage, or a missing combo threshold?
  • Is another member lagging so far behind that the team remains limited anyway?

The current Progression Overview displays owned, unowned and upcoming operators and weapons together with required and held materials. The SKPORT Progression Calculator can combine plans for up to eight operators. Use either to plan a milestone, not an endless shopping list.

AIC factory: build backward from the item you need

The AIC is easiest to understand as a dependency graph.

  1. Choose the final item.
  2. Open its production chain in the Database.
  3. Identify each input and the machine that processes it.
  4. Place the final machine first, leaving expansion space.
  5. Add upstream machines and connect them.
  6. Verify flow before duplicating the line.

Do not begin with a huge empty belt grid. A compact working line teaches more than an ambitious layout with hidden breaks.

Keep power and logistics debuggable

Separate production into recognizable blocks: intake, processing, assembly and output storage. When a line stops, inspect it from the output backward. Check whether the final machine has power, whether its input slot is receiving the correct item, and whether a full container is blocking the chain.

Recent official updates have made this easier. Construction is no longer limited to the Core AIC Area or Sub-PAC, controller remapping covers AIC and exploration, and the Homecoming update increased conduit distance while improving top-view selection and production-chain zoom. Use those conveniences, but keep the design readable.

Blueprint only proven modules

Run a module long enough to confirm that inputs, power and output all work. Then save it as a blueprint. Good first modules are small and single-purpose. Label the intended output outside the game if the current interface does not preserve enough context.

The result is a library of reliable building blocks rather than one factory that must be rebuilt whenever demand changes.

A practical first-session checklist

  • Complete the available main-mission segment.
  • Claim tutorial and mission rewards.
  • Test every operator you plan to field.
  • Set one four-operator team and stop speculative upgrades.
  • Activate travel points along the story route.
  • Build one complete AIC chain for a currently required item.
  • Put the output into accessible storage.
  • Save the working module as a blueprint.
  • Review the next progression milestone before spending.

Mistakes to avoid

Levelling everyone equally. A broad roster is useful later; early on it can leave every team below the current check.

Copying a factory without understanding it. When an input changes or a belt blocks, you need to know how the module works.

Ignoring tutorials after pulling a new operator. Rarity does not explain combo conditions or field role.

Clearing the whole map before advancing. Explore along useful routes, then return with better access and clearer material goals.

Building for maximum scale immediately. Demand changes. Modular, testable lines are easier to expand and repair.

FAQ

Should beginners reroll?

This guide does not recommend rerolling as a default. Current banners, guarantees and account-start rewards can change. A coherent, adequately developed team matters more than chasing a frozen launch-day list.

Which operator should I choose with a selector?

Check the current in-game pool and choose the operator that completes a job your account lacks. Do not rely on an old article for a time-limited selector. The February 2026 Zeroth Directive reward, for example, was tied to a specific mission and update state.

When should I redesign my AIC factory?

Redesign when a line is consistently starved, blocked, underpowered or difficult to extend. If it produces the needed item at the needed pace, improve another bottleneck first.

Does Endfield support cross-platform saves?

GRYPHLINE’s pre-download notice says save data syncs across supported platforms when using the same account.
