Everstone Studio released Hidden Mountain Chapter 2: Heaven’s Threshold for Where Winds Meet on August 20, 2026. NetEase announced the date on August 13. The update opens a high-altitude region above the mountain settlement, continues the expansion’s main story and adds two mechanical world bosses, a multi-level puzzle dungeon, new Mystic Skills and seasonal Ghost Month activities.
This is the second chapter of Hidden Mountain, not a separate paid game. The new content is live across the global version’s supported platforms. NetEase also brought a hands-on build to gamescom 2026 from August 26–30, including a preview of the expansion’s climax and the upcoming Drunken Fist combat style.
A region built vertically
Heaven’s Threshold takes players through cliffs, cloud-covered peaks and the remains of an ancient observatory. A community construction event gradually reveals more of the mountainous area. Its story follows a dispute among craftspeople who inherited advanced techniques: whether to remain hidden or use that knowledge to help communities beyond the mountain.
Two mechanical beasts patrol the open world. The Kite-Ink Scorpion and Cloud-Bearing Serpent—English names may vary by client localization—open their armor during combat, exposing joints that become the key targets. The Great Evolution Maze is a separate layered dungeon filled with rotating wooden gears, traditional joinery mechanisms, moving floors and mechanical guards.
The update also includes a campaign in a silent valley occupied by renegade blacksmiths. Players work with a boy to repair abandoned waterwheels and machinery while investigating why the former settlement collapsed.
New Mystic Skills and seasonal modes
Ninefold Arrow fires nine projectiles to control and pin multiple enemies. All Things Are Blades converts excess healing power into airborne blades that attack enemies. These descriptions are from NetEase’s update material; exact scaling and build value depend on the live skill data.
Reflection Temple is a solo survival activity tied to Ghost Month. Players enter an unsettling mountain shrine, follow prescribed rules, collect hidden clues and try to escape. A separate high-speed racing activity supports solo time trials and online multiplayer. Another trading system asks players to establish routes between remote villages for rare rewards.
The gamescom demo includes Drunken Fist, but NetEase frames it as an upcoming combat style. Its presence at the booth does not confirm that every player can unlock it in the August 20 live build. That is the clearest line between released content and preview material in the announcement.
What it means for players
Confirmed fact: Heaven’s Threshold launched August 20 with its region, story, bosses, dungeon, Mystic Skills and activities. Clutchrig interpretation: vertical navigation and mechanism-driven encounters make this a broader exploration update than a simple quest continuation. The community construction layer may also pace access differently from a map that opens in full on first login.
Returning players should finish the preceding Hidden Mountain chapter before expecting the new story to make sense. Combat-focused players can prioritize the world bosses and Mystic Skills, while explorers receive the denser share of the update through the observatory ruins, maze and valley campaign.
No uncorroborated rumor is included. Drunken Fist is officially previewed at gamescom, but its general release date remains unannounced as of August 27.

Hidden Mountain Chapter 2 has been live since August 20 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud and supported mobile platforms. Platform storefront and regional timing can differ; the global client notice is the final authority.
